Experience
Most people who stay in Taghazout spend the week between the point and the beach. This day goes the other way, inland and uphill into the Idaoutanan mountains, where the valley stays green all year and the pools are fed by springs rather than the sea.
We collect you from your hotel in Taghazout in the morning and drive out through the argan country before the road turns to track. The last fifteen kilometres are rough and slow, which is the point: you climb past terraced fields and small villages that see very few visitors, with stops for photographs over the plain below.
At the top there is a mountain auberge where lunch is waiting, cooked for the group and included in the price. After eating you walk down to the natural pools for a swim, then start back for Taghazout in the late afternoon. The day runs about nine hours in total.

First view over the plain from the coast road.
11:00 – Villages and the track
Off the tarmac for the last 15 km through the Idaoutanan mountains.
11:30 – Auberge lunch
Tagine or couscous, fruit and mint tea in the courtyard.
13:00 – Walk to the pools
Fifteen minutes through palms and olive trees to the natural pools.
13:15 – Swim and free time
Cold water, flat rocks, and nowhere else to be.
16:00 – Head back
Retrace the track and the coast road.
18:00 – Hotel drop off
Back in Agadir or Taghazout by early evening.
